World Premiere Musical Adaptation of PEEF The Christmas Bear at Stages Theatre
Now through Monday, December 29, 2008
Performance times vary

A classic title with local roots comes to the musical stage for the first time this holiday season. PEEF The Christmas Bear, written by Tom Hegg and illustrated by Warren Hanson, tells the story of a bear, lovingly hand-made by Santa, who teaches children of all ages to identify and embrace the treasure of belonging, the joy of sacrifice and the triumph of love.

Stages Theatre's Adam Hegg, son of author Tom Hegg, crafted the world premiere musical adaptation of his father's holiday classic. The production runs November 21 through December 29, 2008, at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Children who already know PEEF, and those who are discovering the multi-colored hero for the first time, will delight in this sure-fire holiday hit.

On December 13, the KARE 11 Saturday Show will feature author Tom Hegg and his beloved holiday classic, PEEF The Christmas Bear. PEEF is a Santa-hand-made masterpiece who teaches children of all ages to identify and embrace the treasure of belonging, the joy of sacrifice and the triumph of love. Since its release in 1995, it has sold more than 500,000 copies. 

Stages Theatre Company in Hopkins, MN is bringing the World Premiere musical to the stage this holiday season and author Tom Hegg is especially thrilled about the first-ever production, as his son, Adam Hegg, crafted the musical adaptation of the book. The production runs November 21 through December 29, 2008 at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. Children who already know PEEF, and those who are discovering the multi-colored hero for the first time, will delight in this sure-fire holiday hit.

Grab your kids and head out to Toddler Tuesdays for a morning of fun! Toddler Tuesdays is a program that provides events, free entertainment and discounts especially for toddlers. Events include special character appearances, arts and crafts, storytime and much more. On Tuesday, December 9, enjoy a special mini-production of the world premiere musical, PEEF The Christmas Bear, an adaptation of the holiday classic of the same name. Performances will be at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. in the Sears Court at Mall of America.

This holiday season, Stages Theatre Company brings the classic PEEF The Christmas Bear to the stage in the world premiere musical of the same name. The author of the book, Tom Hegg,  is a Master Teacher and director of drama at Breck School in Minneapolis, and Stages is hosting a special event on Sunday, December 7, for Breck students, teachers and their families. Stages' Artistic Director, Sandy Boren-Barrett, will kick-off the afternoon with a special welcome, followed by comments from author Tom Hegg and illustrator Warren Hanson, and a reading of the book by Hegg. Both Hegg and Hanson will be available before and after Sunday's performance to autograph books.

Brett Waldman Featured Presenter at Fourth Annual Writer’s Festival and Book Fair

9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

TRISTAN Publisher Brett Waldman will be a featured presenter at the Bloomington Art Center Writer’s Festival and Book Fair on Saturday, March 24, 2007. Brett’s morning workshop will focus on “How to Get a Publisher to Notice You.” Workshop sessions are $10 for admission and open to the public.

The Writer’s Festival connects budding and established writers with published authors and other experts in the field to share information, techniques, skills and resources. This is the Fourth annual festival for the Bloomington Art Center.

TRISTAN will also feature it’s books with a message at the afternoon trade show and discussion. The afternoon events are free and also open to the public.
